The short version

  • We install straight, wall-mounted grab bars indoors — showers, tubs and beside toilets. The bar, hardware, labor, weight testing and cleanup are all in the price.
  • Bars fasten into studs whenever a stud is where the bar needs to be. On a tiled or stone wall where it isn't, we use WingIts® grab bar fasteners, rated by the manufacturer up to 450 lb in drywall with tile — well above the ADA 250 lb requirement.
  • On painted drywall we fasten into studs only. WingIts® are never installed through bare drywall.
  • We don't install into fiberglass or acrylic tub/shower surrounds.
  • In homes, ADA / TAS heights are our starting point; the person using the bar comes first. In commercial and public restrooms we install to ADA / TAS.
  • Drilling tile, stone or glass carries a small, unavoidable risk of chipping. We'll explain it before we drill; any tile repair is the owner's responsibility.
  • No deposit. You pay when the work is done and weight-tested. No cancellation or rescheduling fee — just tell us as early as you can.
  • Our workmanship is covered for one year. If a bar loosens because of how we installed it, we'll come back and fix it free.

1. What we install

Scope
Straight, wall-mounted, concealed-flange grab bars for indoor use, supplied by us or by you.
Typical locations
Inside showers, beside bathtubs, next to toilets. Hallway, entry and stair handrail-style bars are quoted on request.
Included
A 304 stainless steel bar in your choice of finish and length (12"–48"), all fasteners and anchors, installation, a weight test, a usage walk-through and cleanup.
Not included
Wall repair or repainting, tile replacement or grout matching, plumbing or electrical work, removal of glass panels or fixtures, and demolition beyond the anchor holes themselves. We don't install into fiberglass or acrylic tub/shower surrounds (see section 2).

If you supply your own bar, the same per-bar installation price applies. We'll tell you before drilling if a supplied bar's hardware or flange design isn't suitable for a secure installation.

2. Walls we work on and how we anchor

A grab bar is only as strong as what it's fastened to, so this is the part of the job we care most about.

Studs first

We map the framing behind the wall with stud and metal detection before marking anything. Wherever a stud is where the bar needs to be, we fasten directly into it with stainless steel screws.

Painted drywall: studs only

On a plain painted wall the bar goes into studs and nothing else. If a stud isn't where the bar needs to be, we shift the bar to the nearest framing that still works for the person. We never install a hollow-wall fastener of any kind through bare drywall.

Tile and stone: WingIts® where a stud isn't available

Behind a tiled or stone shower wall, studs are 16 or 24 inches apart and rarely land exactly where a bar does the most good, and the finished wall can't be opened to add framing. There, rather than move the bar somewhere less useful, we use WingIts® structurally engineered grab bar fasteners (model RESGBW35) — a hollow-wall system made specifically for grab bars, with 3.5" stainless steel screws. The manufacturer designs it for ceramic, marble and plaster, rates it up to 450 lb in drywall with tile, and states that it exceeds ADA guidelines and building codes in approved substrates. We use it only through tile or stone, only in vertical walls, and never in a wet or deteriorating wall. It is not an ordinary drywall anchor; a hardware-store toggle or plastic plug has no place under a grab bar.

Fiberglass and acrylic surrounds: not offered

We don't install grab bars into one-piece or panel tub and shower surrounds. The panel is thin, usually has an air gap behind it, and can flex — none of which gives a mount we're willing to stand behind. If your shower is a surround, let us know when you book and we'll tell you straight away rather than on the day.

Wall types and our standard anchoring method
WallHow we anchorNotes
Drywall (painted)Studs only. No hollow-wall fasteners of any kind.If no stud lands where the bar needs to be, we move the bar to the nearest framing that still serves the person, and talk it through with you before drilling.
Ceramic or porcelain tile over backer board or drywallInto studs where available; otherwise WingIts® grab bar fasteners (rated up to 450 lb in drywall with tile).Carbide/diamond bits, low speed, cooled. See the drilling notice below.
Natural stone (marble, granite, travertine)As for tile.Stone varies in hardness and can fracture along veins; higher chip risk.
Fiberglass or acrylic tub/shower surroundNot offered. We do not install grab bars into one-piece or panel surrounds. The thin panel and the air gap behind it don't give a mount we're willing to put our name on. Tell us if your shower is a surround and we'll say so before booking.
Plaster and lath, multiple drywall layersInto studs. Assessed on site.Common in older Dallas homes; extra time may apply.
Glass panels, masonry, metal studs, unusual assembliesEvaluated on site.May need special hardware, extra labor or a separate quote — agreed before work starts.

Every bar is installed so it does not rotate in its fittings, and weight-tested in front of you before we leave.

3. Placement standards: homes vs. commercial

Commercial and public facilities. Restrooms in clinics, churches, restaurants, senior living and other places open to the public must meet the 2010 ADA Standards for Accessible Design, enforced in Texas through the 2012 Texas Accessibility Standards (TAS). We install to ADA / TAS §§604–609 — heights, lengths, clearances and load requirements — in those spaces. The property owner tells us when a space is subject to these standards and is responsible for any registration, plan review or inspection required by the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation.

Private homes. The ADA does not apply to single-family residences. We use ADA / TAS as a well-tested starting point — for example 33"–36" to the top of a horizontal bar — and then place the bar for the person who will actually use it: their height, reach, dominant hand, and how they step in, sit down and stand up. Your preference and fit take priority over the letter of the standard. Where we think a requested location is unsafe or won't hold, we'll say so and suggest an alternative.

The full specifications, with citations, are in our ADA / TAS grab bar guide.

4. How the visit goes

  1. Walk-through. We look at the bathroom with you and the person who'll use the bar, and agree the locations. You choose the finish and length on the spot.
  2. Locate. Stud and metal detection, plus a non-contact check for live wiring, across the area where each flange will land. Studs first; on tile or stone, WingIts® where a stud isn't available.
  3. Mark and dry-fit. The bar is held in place and the flange positions marked before any drilling.
  4. Drill and fasten. Substrate-appropriate bits at controlled speed; holes deburred; fasteners set; flange covers seated flush.
  5. Seal. In wet areas we apply a discreet bead of silicone at wall penetrations to keep water out of the wall.
  6. Weight-test and hand over. We put our full weight on every bar in front of you before we ask you to, show you how it's meant to be used, and answer questions.
  7. Clean up. Dust is vacuumed, surfaces wiped, and packaging and debris leave with us.

Most single bars take 30–60 minutes; a three-bar bathroom is usually done in under 90.

5. Tile, stone and glass drilling notice

Please read before we drill. Even with the right bits, speed and cooling, brittle finishes — ceramic and porcelain tile, natural stone, glass — can chip, spall or crack at the hole. It's uncommon, but it cannot be ruled out, and it is not a sign of poor workmanship.

By authorizing an installation into tile, stone or glass, you acknowledge this inherent risk and agree that any repair or replacement of the finish — including matching tile, grout, waterproofing and related wall assemblies — is the property owner's responsibility. We'll always flange-cover a small chip where the design allows, and we can refer you to tile professionals on request.

6. Hidden conditions, and when we'll stop

We use professional locating tools, but no tool sees everything inside a wall. We are not responsible for damage or delay caused by concealed or undisclosed conditions such as plumbing, electrical or radiant heating in the wall, voids or hollow spots, inadequate or deteriorated backing, prior water damage, or pre-existing cracks in the finish.

The wall assembly itself must be sound enough to carry a grab bar. Anchors cannot compensate for a wet, crumbling or delaminated substrate. If conditions look unsafe or unreasonably risky, we may decline or stop the work — and if we do, you pay nothing for the bars we didn't install.

7. Before we arrive

  • Clear roughly a 3 × 3 ft area around each location; move toiletries, and remove shower curtains or doors if they lift out easily.
  • Secure pets.
  • Have an adult (18+) present who can approve the final locations — ideally the person who'll use the bar.
  • Tell us what you know: in-wall utilities, radiant heat, unusual wall construction, prior water damage or repairs.

8. Cleanup and aftercare

We vacuum the work area and wipe down the surfaces around each bar before we leave. Drilling tile and stone produces very fine dust that can settle afterward; a light wipe-down and some ventilation later in the day is a good idea. We take all packaging and debris with us.

Care is simple: mild soap and water, then dry. Avoid bleach, chlorides and acidic tile cleaners on stainless steel. Check the sealant bead and the bar's firmness now and then, and call us if anything changes. Our care guide has the details.

9. Pricing, payment and sales tax

  • Flat, all-inclusive pricing. $429 for the first bar and $379 for each additional bar installed in the same visit, within Dallas, Tarrant, Collin and Denton counties. The price covers the bar, hardware, labor, weight testing and cleanup.
  • No deposit. Nothing is charged when you book.
  • Pay when it's done. Payment is due when the installation is complete and weight-tested, by card, check or cash. Receipts are emailed.
  • Sales tax is added where Texas law requires it.
  • Non-standard work (unusual substrates, locations outside our four counties, after-hours commercial scheduling) is quoted and agreed before any work begins. You'll never see a charge you didn't approve first.

10. Scheduling, service area and cancellations

  • We schedule Monday–Friday, 8 am–4 pm Central, and confirm an arrival window when we book. We text when we're on the way. Weekend and after-hours installs are available by arrangement, mainly for commercial work.
  • Our published pricing applies in Dallas, Tarrant, Collin and Denton counties. Nearby areas are welcome by quote; text us your ZIP code.
  • No cancellation or rescheduling fee. Life happens — especially around hospital discharges and caregiving. Just tell us as early as you can, ideally a day ahead, so we can offer the slot to another family.
  • If we arrive and can't get access or no adult is available to approve locations, we'll try to reach you and simply reschedule. There is no charge.
  • If we need to move an appointment, we'll give you as much notice as possible and the next available slot.

11. Limited one-year installation warranty

Who is covered. The customer who paid for the installation, for the bars installed at that address.

What is covered. For one year from the installation date, Buhldawg, LLC d/b/a SteadyBars.com warrants that the installation was performed in a good and workmanlike manner. If a bar we installed loosens, shifts or detaches because of our workmanship during that year, we will re-secure or reinstall it at no charge. If that isn't reasonably possible, we will refund what you paid us to install that bar. The choice between repair and refund is ours, and this is your exclusive remedy under this warranty.

What is not covered.

  • Defects in the grab bar or hardware itself — those are the manufacturer's responsibility (see section 12).
  • Failure or deterioration of the wall, framing, drywall, backer board, tile or waterproofing that was not caused by our work.
  • Water intrusion, mold or moisture damage, including where sealant was not maintained.
  • Misuse, overloading, abuse, or use as anything other than a hand-hold for a person.
  • Alteration, removal, relocation or repair by anyone other than SteadyBars.
  • Cosmetic changes to the finish caused by cleaning products, chlorides or abrasives.
  • Chips or cracks in tile, stone or glass from drilling (see section 5).
  • Bars we did not install, or bars installed in a location we advised against in writing.

How to make a claim. Call or text (214) 489-7733 or email support@steadybars.com within the warranty period. Tell us the address, what you've noticed, and send a photo if you can. We'll schedule a visit, normally within five business days.

12. Product warranty

The grab bars, fasteners and hardware we supply are made by third-party manufacturers and are covered by their limited warranties, which vary by brand and finish and typically address defects such as weld failure or finish corrosion under normal use. We don't manufacture these products and don't offer a separate warranty on them. If you think a product is defective, tell us — we'll help you document the issue and make the claim, and we'll reinstall a warranty replacement bar at no labor charge within the first year.

13. Limits of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by Texas law, our total liability for any claim arising out of an installation — whether in contract, warranty, tort or otherwise — is limited to the amount you paid us for the installation service in question, and we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, including loss of use, tile or wall repair beyond what section 11 provides, or costs of substitute services.

Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited under applicable law, including liability for personal injury caused by our own gross negligence or willful misconduct. Some states do not allow the exclusion or limitation of incidental or consequential damages, so the above limitation may not apply to you.

You agree to hold us harmless from claims arising from misuse of an installed bar, alterations by others, or conditions you knew of and did not disclose, except to the extent caused by our own gross negligence or willful misconduct.

We carry general liability insurance; a certificate is available on request. These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas.

14. Commercial and facility work

  • Installations in commercial and public facilities follow ADA / TAS §§604–609 as described in section 3.
  • The owner or manager identifies which spaces are subject to ADA / TAS and is responsible for any TDLR registration, Registered Accessibility Specialist review or inspection the project requires.
  • Certificate of insurance and W-9 on request; purchase orders accepted; volume scheduling and after-hours work by arrangement.
  • Where a written service agreement exists between us, that agreement controls over these terms if they conflict.

15. Questions
